Dear Animal loving friend,
It is very hard for me to write this email. I am deeply affected by how much suffering is going on from recent natural disasters in this country. I am overwhelmed with a desire to help humans and animals alike. Running an animal rescue organization, I am especially disturbed by all of the animals that have been affected. Like you, I make my donations to those organizations on the ground in those areas, and I’m relieved to know there are people like me there to help. The hardest part of this is knowing how many lives still need to be saved here in Los Angeles, even without a natural disaster. The difference is, I know how to help here. This is what I do. I save animals lives, and I need your help to continue doing it…
In the Los Angeles shelters, injured and sick animals are not available to the public. These animals that are brought to the shelters (often by their owners who can’t afford to help them), are only available to rescue groups. The shelters can’t afford proper medical staff or treatment for these animals. Local rescue groups receive countless calls and emails every day from shelter workers and volunteers begging us to rescue these medical animals (let alone the healthy animals who there is no space for). Most of these animals are suffering from some kind of trauma, broken bones, or wounds. If they are not deemed critical enough to be euthanized immediately, they sit there for days, or weeks, in pain, waiting to be rescued so they can receive the treatment they need. It is up to groups like Much Love Animal Rescue to go in and get those animals out of the shelters, and to the vets that can save their lives. But the cost involved in treating these cases is immense, usually exceeding $4000 per animal. That is with the meager discounts the rescue groups get from the various vets’ offices we all work with. Last year I came to you with images of injured shelter animals waiting to be rescued. I asked you to donate to Much Love Animal Rescue through the Strut Your Mutt online fundraising campaign. Thanks to you, every one of those injured dogs I sent pleas out for we rescued from the shelters, got the medical attention they needed, and were adopted into wonderful homes. But the cases kept coming. Countless injured dogs and cats being dumped at our local shelters daily. They were hit by cars, beaten, neglected, attacked by coyotes, and suffering. We couldn’t turn our backs on them. We saved so many more lives than we had planned on, counting on financial pledges and grants to come through, that never did. Our donations fell short of our expenses, and we are in a position now that we can't save any more animals unless we raise significant funds. We need your help to keep our organization going.
So as hard as this is, here I am, once again asking for you to donate…However, this year I want to offer you something back. Something in return for donating: We are inviting you to an emergency fundraising event we are calling Spoken Woof. The event will be October 7th, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at the awesome Microsoft Space on Abbott Kinney Blvd. in Venice. This will be a great event with a very casual and intimate feel. There will be food, drinks, a great silent auction, and dogs for adoption. We will also be screening the premiere of our Much Love Rescue documentary. In addition to the film, the focal point of the evening will be spoken word performances by a select number of celebrity guests. The performances will feature personal stories celebrating the bonds that are formed with pets. All of the details are on the invite at the bottom of the page, with a link to buy your tickets. Every penny we raise will go directly to Much Love Animal Rescue, and we will be able to save more lives! If you can’t make it to the event, you can still donate to Strut Your Mutt by donating to my page. This is the one big fund raiser for Much Love Animal Rescue this year! Any amount will help! Your donation is tax-deductible and our organization keeps 100% of the money raised.
In memory of the thousands of animals who lose their lives every year in the LA shelters, and to those we can still save, please support my fundraising efforts for MUCH LOVE ANIMAL RESCUE by joining us for SPOKEN WOOF (purchase tickets at www.muchlove.org) or donating to my STRUT YOUR MUTT page. The money I raise goes directly towards rescuing and treating these animals in need, and finding them loving homes.
I can’t thank you enough for your support!!

Information about Much Love Animal Rescue:
Much Love Animal Rescue is a highly regarded LA-based, non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats from the city and county shelters. Since our inception in 1999, we have saved over 5,000 animals and placed them into homes.
Why we do it:
In the United States, over 4,000 animals die in our shelters each day. That’s over 1.5 million annually. Much Love works tirelessly to decrease this statistic.
Much Love is dedicated to the following goals:
Rescuing dogs and cats from Los Angeles animal shelters who have not been adopted, or are not available to the public due to injury or illness, and are scheduled to be euthanized. Much Love takes the animals who have been in the shelters the longest, are injured or sick, and will die unless rescued.
Securing a no-kill facility where rescued pets can be safely sheltered without the threat of euthanasia until we find adoptive parents for them
Providing medical care to neglected, sick, abused and injured animals
Rehabilitating hard-to-adopt animals and finding them loving homes
Promoting the importance of spaying and neutering pets in order to drastically reduce the number of unwanted animals on the street (It’s the LAW in Los Angeles to spay and neuter your pets!!!)
Educating children and adults alike on responsible pet guardianship
What we do:
Our primary focus is finding safe, loving homes for unwanted, neglected, sick, injured, and/or abused animals. We rescue dogs and cats from Los Angeles area shelters who could be loving pets, but are about to be put to sleep due to overcrowding, injury, time, or disease.
Much Love spays or neuters every animal we take in, gives them required inoculations and microchips each animal to ensure if they are ever lost, we will always be contacted.
Much Love takes particular care in placing our animals. Our screening process includes a two-page application, reference checks ,and a home check to ensure the home and family is compatible with the pets needs and our requirements. We ask adoptive owners to sign a detailed contract obliging them to give the animal a loving home for the entirety of the animals life.
How we do it:
Much Love is a volunteer run organization with one paid employee. We dedicate our time to rescuing dogs and cats from our local shelters, raising funds, giving those animals in need medical care and training, and finding loving homes for our animals. We participate in weekend mobile adoptions and network our animals until permanent homes are found for these deserving pets.
Much Love runs on a shoestring budget made up of adoption fees, small grants, and donations from you!
Much Love relies primarily on foster homes ,to house our animals while we find permanent homes for them.
Much Love is run by like-minded professionals who volunteer their time and resources to help save the lives of these animals. Since 1999, we have successfully rescued and placed over 6,000 animals in loving homes.
Much Love Animal Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit. Our Tax ID# is 95-4765624.
All donations are tax deductible.
Much Love Animal Rescue is proud to be part of the No More Homeless Pets "Network partners".
