Thank you for visiting my yearly, major fundraising effort for Coastal German Shepherd Rescue with Strut Your Mutt.
As you know, I am very passionate about saving animals lives. I dedicate so much time and money of my own to this cause, but we need so much more assistance to continue to do what we do. Coastal is known among the rescue world for taking in animals that most other rescues leave behind because they have significant costs or issues associated with them. We don't think you can put a price on any life and while we can't save them all, we do the absolute best that we can.
This year, I am going to walk with my foster dog Otto. Otto started off his life at 10 weeks old being dumped in the Orange County shelter. Sadly, Otto has Hydrocephalus, or fluid on the brain. His situation was pretty severe so not only did it affect his motor skills, it affected his vision and eventually would have killed him. Miraculously, we found a pediatric neurosurgeon that loves animals and heard about his case. We paid his expenses from the East Coast and he donated his time to put a shunt in Otto's brain. There's a balloon type valve on the top of his head and a tube that runs down his right side under the skin and drains excess fluid into his abdomen. And guess what? He's alive and well and happy as any other puppy....
While we did get huge expenses donated, we siginificant costs during his 10-month stay at the vet. Once we make a commitment to any animal, we treat them as if they were our own pet. Some of you may not have pets, but probably have children and I simply say, how do you put a price on a life? These are crazy expenses for one, but together with everyone chipping in, we can do it.
Many people ask me how they can help me do what I do. For so many, the best way you can help is with making a donation to this worthy cause. 100% of your donation will go to the cause since there isn't a single person in our group that gets paid a penny.
Can I please ask for a donation to help us pay for Otto's expenses? Please, any amount is greatly appreciated. I hope you can help me achieve my very, very lofty goal. I have never raised this kind of money before, but am determined to find a way and I am hoping I can count on your help. Otto is such a happy boy and a total love.
I have another goal this year on top of raising money. I’m also extremely motivated to be walking in Strut Your Mutt myself after getting a hip replacement on September 28th. This event is only 3 weeks after my surgery, but I am determined to be walking with Otto. My doctors think it may be a lofty goal, but nothing is impossible. This is more motivation for me than you will ever know. With your support, I will be there….
