This year I am strutting in honor of our foster dog Taco. Taco and his brother Chico were surrendered to a high kill shelter in June of 2016 at the old ages of 22 and 16. We brought them home from the shelter with the expectation of giving them a few good weeks and then letting them go peacfully. They both had other plans, especially Taco.
We found out soon that Taco was diabetic and started him on insulin. They both got shots, baths, nails clipped, the works. They ate good food, slept a ton and got lots of snuggles and love.
Chico, age 16, was the sweetest boy and passes on peacefully in January of 2017. He is missed every day.
Taco on the other hand lives on. He just turned 24 and is showing no signs of slowing down. He loves to eat, play, bark, and snuggle. What we thought would be a hospice dog, a dog who would only be with us a short time, has defied all odds.
Please donate today to help us with more Tacos that given the chance and the right home can live on.
