It's that time of year again when I walk to save lives. I was blessed to stumble upon and join The Rescue Haven Foundation a few years ago. Although I didn't know it at the time, becoming a part of this organization turned into a life changing event.
Many of you know the story of my dog, Tyson. He was an extremely difficult dog with behavioral issues. When I needed help, Rescue Haven stepped up when everyone else turned away. To say they were a HUGE help with him would be an understatement. I will be forever grateful to them for all of their help and kindness. <3
After going through such a difficult situation with Tyson, I realized there were so many other innocent dogs out there just like him who needed help. That's when I decided to start volunteering and fostering to try to make a difference. Although many of my family & friends think I'm crazy and joke that I have a small zoo (okay, maybe 6 kittens at once was a bit much - but it's all temporary and fun, I swear!), volunteering/fostering has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It's amazing to see the transformation of my fosters after opening my heart and home to them. Is it hard to give them up? Absolutely. But, seeing them thriving in their forver homes makes it all worth it.
One of the things I admire most about Rescue Haven is the fact that they take on the hard cases that most shy away from. They take in dogs with behavioral issues (like Tyson), medical problems, senior dogs on hospice, etc. They find the dogs who need the most help and go above and beyond to make sure they receive the best possible care. In order to continue to do so, they need donations from people like you. Every penny raised for Strut Your Mutt will go directly to the Rescue Haven Medical Fund and will make a huge difference!
I would be honored to have you walk WITH me but if you can't, a donation will most certainly be appreciated and will go DIRECTLY to our dogs.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT!
Strut Your Mutt isn't your average dog walk. Hosted by Best Friends Animal Society, it's a huge festival with dog friendly events that raises money for a cause -- saving the lives of animals in shelters across America.
This charity walk is a lot of fun, but here's really why I'm participating. Every day, more than 9,000 dogs and cats are killed in America's shelters simply because they don't have safe places to call home. Each one could have been someone's furry buddy, if given a chance. That's why I'm joining thousands of fellow supporters in 14 festival cities and online to take part in this incredible fundraising event.
I need your help to reach my goal. Can I count on your donation for this sponsored walk? It's tax-deductible for you, and the great thing is each participating animal welfare organization keeps all the money it raises (after transaction fees).
