Family and Friends, This year Maggie and I are participating in Strut your Mutt to raise money for the the Nassau County SPCA. We walked for this incredible organization last year because our beloved Cooper was rescued by Nassau County SPCA officers. He suffered from a tremedous amount of cruelty and neglect before helped arrived. We are honoring his memory and hoping to raise enough money to help the Nassau County SPCA save more lives.
Cooper's Story :
When the officers went to the house Cooper was living at they were shocked to find 3 absused and neglected dogs in the backyard . One of them was Cooper's mother and unfortunately help came to late for her . She had been tied up on a short lead and had already starved to death. Cooper was found laying next to her also on a short chain with a huge metal collar and with no food, shelter or water! He was skin and bones and had sores all over his body. Thanks to the NCSPCA he along with the other surviving resident were brought to safety. A great friend of mine (emeril's other mom) brought cooper to our attention and we are thrilled she did. He was a lot of work at first b/c outside of being at a shelter after his rescue, he had never lived inside before and the city was very different then the backyard he was dying in. It took him about a year to adjust to get used to things that for all my other dogs were normal routines. He was never frightened though(except when it was thundering outside.) He knew he was safe, loved and well fed. :)
Maggie loved her brother,Cooper so very much. We can't think of a better way to honor his memory then by walking to raise money for the very organization that rescued him and gave us the opportunity to spoil him.
Please help me to reach my goal so that the NCSPCA can save more dogs like cooper who will otherwise suffer from abuse and neglect.
