As you may know, I love dogs.
Over the past few years, I have been a volunteer for several organizations and rescue groups. I love all of them, but one organization does something that no other group out there is doing: they're raising awareness about fostering and trying to unite local rescues under the common goal of getting dogs out of the shelters and into loving homes, and that group is Foster Dogs Inc.
Animal rescue is simultaneously heartbreaking, competitive, divisive, and grueling. Beyond the physical heartache of the thousands of homeless dogs with sad stories, there is constant debate between ideologies, and the level of attrition due to burnout is extremely high. But Foster Dogs Inc and the amazing team behind the organization are trying to bridge the divide. We work with so many amazing local organizations, all of whom have different viewpoints, methods and structures, but at the end of the day, we all want to save as many dogs as we possibly can.
I have had the honor and responsiblity of fostering 70+ dogs since October 2015. Every single one has found a loving home, and every single one has a piece of my heart. I'm choosing to fundraise this year in honor of those dogs, and of the other amazing foster parents I've met as a part of this journey. I'm so grateful for the community I've become a part of, and I'm so excited to have you join us too!
