We’re raising money to help save the lives of hundreds of homeless animals in the Atlanta area. And we plan on having a lot of fun doing it!
Every day, more than 5,500 dogs and cats are killed in America's shelters simply because they don't have safe places to call home. That number should be zero. That’s why PAWS Atlanta is participating in Best Friends Animal Society’s Strut Your Mutt event to raise money for animals. But we need your help, too.
Join PAWS Atlanta and raise much-needed funds for our homeless mutts. Your donation is tax deductible and our shelter pets receive 100% of every dollar you raise. When we strut together, we can Save Them All.
Your donation helps pups like The Mountain:
The Mountain is a sweet and tiny 11-year-old Maltese mix who was surrendered to PAWS Atlanta by his owner. He was a staff and volunteer favorite, sweet and cuddly to everyone he met, including our largest dogs! He came to us with advanced periodontal disease—his teeth were rotting causing his jaw to disintegrate. Our vet team knew that without a full mouth extraction, he was facing a tremendous amount of pain and an inability to eat. The tooth decay would weaken his jaw so much that it would break. Dr. Lauren Popiolek DVM performed a full mouth extraction in two stages over a two-week period. After surgery, he had trouble recovering and through further assessment, Dr. Lauren discovered a low heart rate. He was rushed to the hospital where he received an electrocardiogram (ECG) and chest x-rays to check his heart. PAWS Vet Tech, Casey Cline, took him home, gave him medicine every hour, and continued to care for him until he recovered. Thanks to the incredible care of our vet team, The Mountain is now able to eat wet food normally and is pain free. Last month, he starred on Fox 5’s Good Day Atlanta as the “Pet of the Day,” and two days later he was adopted by a woman who gave this senior a second chance and a loving home!
