Tell your city leaders that all dogs are individuals.

Pit Bull Image Legislative Alert

If you’re reading this then there’s a good chance that you agree with us when we say that all dogs are individuals. Unfortunately, there’s a misguided effort underway in Lumberton to scapegoat certain breeds of dogs and regulate them differently than others.

These types of discriminatory laws get it all wrong, focusing on what dogs look like instead of on their individual behavior.  That’s not the recipe for a safe or humane community, and it’s time we told our city leaders what we think of it.

Politics isn’t a spectator sport, so please take action now and tell the mayor and council that we need to strengthen our dog laws by focusing on the individual behavior of all our dogs and the reckless owners in our community.

But don’t stop there, share this message with your friends and family and urge them to take action to save our pets.  Spread the message on Facebook and Twitter and help us multiply our impact.

Thank you for all you do to Save Them All.

Thank you.

Dear [Decision Maker],

As a Lumberton resident and voter, I urge you to oppose breed discrimination. We should protect people and pets through a culture of safety, personal responsibility and individual accountability.

It's also why respected organizations like the American Bar Association, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Animal Care and Control Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association have all rejected breed-discriminatory laws as a policy solution.

All these groups have found that the best way to make a community safe is to pass comprehensive breed-neutral dangerous dog laws that focus on the behaviors of both dog and owner. Instead of punishing innocent dogs, let's hold owners accountable and responsible for dogs who are actually dangerous.

Please reject the ineffective and unworkable breed-discriminatory proposal now under consideration.

Thank you.
