Urge your representatives to enact AB 485.
California is poised to make history! The state legislature is considering a landmark bill that would prohibit pet stores from selling dogs, cats and rabbits ― unless they come from shelters or rescue groups. If enacted, Assembly Bill 485 will help put an end to the suffering of countless animals in substandard breeding facilities, and will help reduce killing in our shelters. Californians have made it clear that they do not support puppy and kitten mills. That’s why 35 cities and counties throughout the state (including Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, San Francisco and Beverly Hills) have already passed local ordinances to ban the retail sale of puppies and kittens from inhumane breeding mills. It’s time for the state legislature to do the same. Please take action today by urging your representatives to vote YES on AB 485. Thank you for speaking up for animals. Together, we will Save Them All.
Dear [Decision Maker],
As a proud resident of California, I respectfully urge you to support AB 485, which will restrict the retail sale of inhumanely bred dogs, cats and rabbits, many of whom end up in our overcrowded, taxpayer-subsidized shelters.
