House Bill 235 protects community cats and their caretakers.
A lifesaving bill is before the Delaware House of Representatives that will protect our community cats and the people who care for them.
House Bill 235 makes clear that community cats deserve the full protections of the animal cruelty statute. It also clarifies that cats participating in a community cat program, such as shelter return-to-field, will be exempt from the typical stray hold period required of most other animals.
Current law does not provide enough protections to vulnerable community cats, and it definitely doesn’t protect their caretakers. That’s exactly why we need your help to enact HB 235.
Time is of the essence. June 30 is the last day for legislation to be passed this year, and HB 235 has a hearing in the House this coming Wednesday, June 28. Legislators need to hear from their constituents that this bill is a priority and needs to pass.
Take action now and urge your state representative to support HB 235. Don’t stop there: Please share this message on Facebook and Twitter to increase our impact. Thank you for your support and for being a voice for our state’s animals. Together, we will Save Them All.
Dear [Decision Maker],
As a constituent, I urge you to support HB 235. This legislation will humanely reduce the number of free-roaming cats in our communities.
