Community Cat Image Legislative Alert

Please ask your state senator to support HB 235.

Great news, Delaware! We’re one step closer to passing a game-changing piece of legislation for our state’s community cats. The House just voted (with near unanimous bipartisan support) to advance HB 235, and the Senate could be voting on it any day. Now is the time for your voice to be heard.

House Bill 235 provides the full protections of the animal cruelty statute to community cats, and also clarifies that cats participating in a community cat program (such as shelter return-to-field) will be exempt from the typical three-day stray hold period required of most other animals. These measures will save lives by allowing good Samaritans to have healthy, ownerless community cats sterilized, vaccinated and returned to their outdoor homes.

Take action now and urge your state senator to support HB 235. Let her or him know that this bipartisan legislation is the right choice for our cats and the right choice for our state.

Don’t stop there. Share this message on Facebook, Twitter and your other social media platforms.

Thank you for all your support and for continuing to be a voice for our state’s cats. Together, we will Save Them All.

Dear [Decision Maker],

As your constituent, I urge you to support House Bill 235. This veterinarian-focused legislation will humanely reduce the number of free-roaming cats in our communities while saving taxpayer dollars, which is exactly why the House just passed the bill with near unanimous bipartisan support.

I hope that you will support HB 235 and that you urge your Senate colleagues to do the same. Thank you for your consideration and time.
