NY: New Bronx animal shelter in jeopardy

Your voice is needed to urge City Hall to help homeless cats and dogs.

Your voice is urgently needed today! The proposed full-service animal shelter proposed for the Bronx is in jeopardy! The New York City Council vote is Monday and it is going to be close. Now is the time for your voice to be heard regarding this lifesaving facility.

This proposed Animal Care Centers of NYC location has the potential to save the lives of thousands of animals. By offering such community services as a low cost veterinary clinic, a pet food pantry, free dog training, and youth and senior programs, such a facility would prevent pets from entering the shelter system in the first place.

Your voice is needed to convince the mayor, council speaker Corey Johnson and your own council member to approve the shelter’s Bartow Avenue location. Without this approval, construction of the shelter could be delayed for years.

And don’t stop there! There are two more important ways you can amplify your impact:

Make two quick phone calls — one to Corey Johnson, council speaker (212-788-7210) and one to council member Rafael Salamanca Jr., chair of the Land Use Committee (212-788-7384). Politely urge each of them to approve the new Bronx animal shelter at the Bartow Avenue location.

Politics is not a spectator sport, so please take action today to help save the lives of homeless dogs and cats and ensure that pet owners get the resources they need to keep their beloved pets in their homes.

Thank you for speaking up. Together, we will Save Them All.

Dear [Decision Maker],

As a New York City resident, I urge you to please approve the construction of the new, state-of-the-art, full-service animal shelter at the Bartow Avenue location in the Bronx.
