Ask your senators to support LB 546.Legislation has been filed in the Nebraska state legislature to help reduce the number of dogs and cats being killed in animal shelters. LB 546 creates spay/neuter awareness license plates and a low-income spay/neuter grant program, all at no cost to taxpayers. The programs outlined in this lifesaving bill will expand spay/neuter opportunities for the pets of low-income Nebraskans, celebrate responsible pet ownership, thereby reducing the homeless pet population and saving lives. That’s a win-win for Nebraska!
LB 546 is scheduled for a hearing before the Senate Committee on Transportation and Telecommunications on Tuesday, February 5, so now is the time for you to make your voice heard.
Thank you for speaking up. Together, we will Save Them All.
Dear [Decision Maker],
As a constituent and pet lover, I urge you to support LB 546. This lifesaving legislation creates spay/neuter awareness license plates and a low-income spay/neuter grant program, all at no cost to the taxpayers.Similar laws have recently passed in other states and the benefits there are already evident. More cats and dogs are being sterilized in these states, resulting in fewer animals entering overburdened and underfunded municipal shelters.
Sincerely,
Best Friends, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, operates the nation's largest sanctuary for homeless animals; provides adoption, spay/neuter, and educational programs.
