UT: Keep puppy stores out of Draper City

The Draper City Planning Commission recently held a public hearing to discuss a potential zone change that would allow Puppy Barn — a controversial pet shop with two other Utah locations — to open a new store in Draper City.

After hearing the concerns of many residents, the Commission voted not to recommend this zone change. Now it’s in the hands of the City Council to keep all puppy stores out of Draper City, and your voice is needed.

Take action today. Urge your city council to protect pets and consumers.

Pet stores that sell commercially bred puppies are not an asset to the community. Unsuspecting customers often end up buying pets with serious health conditions, creating financial and emotional burdens for the purchasers — and leading to many of these innocent pets being surrendered to our overcrowded, taxpayer-subsidized shelters.

Eleven cities and counties throughout Utah have enacted ordinances to prevent pet stores from selling commercially bred puppies, and Draper City should do the same.

If you are a Draper City resident, please take action today by telling council members commercial puppy stores have no place in our city.

Thanks for speaking out. Together, we will Save Them All.

Please protect consumers and pets in Draper City

Dear [Decision Maker],

As a proud resident of Draper City, I respectfully urge you NOT to allow pet stores to sell commercially bred puppies in our city. Pet stores that obtain animals from commercial facilities and backyard breeders are not an asset to our community.

Please protect pets, consumers and taxpayers by keeping commercial puppy stores out of our city. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
