MA: Speak up to save cats and dogs

Urge the Governor to reject dangerous MDAR regulations.

The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) has proposed burdensome regulations that will force many of our state’s shelters and rescues to close.

How you can help:

Urge Governor Baker and MDAR Commissioner John Lebeaux to reject the current proposal.

Send a message asking them to restart this process with a wider, more diverse group of stakeholders that can work collaboratively to find common ground.

Urge the Governor to reject dangerous MDAR regulations.

We all share the same goal of a safe and humane Massachusetts. And we know that reasonable, data-driven regulations for shelters and rescues can improve lifesaving for cats and dogs.

Unfortunately, the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) has proposed burdensome regulations that will force many of our state’s shelters and rescues to close — meaning fewer cats and dogs will get their chance to find forever homes, and too many more will needlessly die.

How you can help:

Urge Governor Baker and MDAR Commissioner John Lebeaux to reject the current proposal.

Send a message asking them to restart this process with a wider, more diverse group of stakeholders that can work collaboratively to find common ground on these important issues.

Time is running out and your voice will make a vital difference today.

Help save our pet cats and dogs

Dear [Decision Maker],

I want to urge you to rethink the proposed regulations that are under consideration at the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR).

You have continuously been a strong advocate for our state's cats and dogs, yet these dangerous proposed regulations will drive lifesaving animal shelters and rescues out of business. As a result, countless cats and dogs will needlessly die in our already overburdened municipal shelters.

Cats and dogs will die if the current proposal is the starting point for these regulations.

Not only that, but countless nonprofit organizations will have to close their doors, which means the tens of thousands of pets they care for and find loving homes for will face a far less positive outcome. This can all be avoided if we start the process over, involving and listening to the people who are on-the-ground saving our pets every day across the Commonwealth.

Your leadership on companion animal issues has always been strong and we are incredibly grateful for your work in this area. Please stand up for our pets once again and put a hold on MDAR's dangerous regulations.

Sincerely,
