Dear Friend, Guardian Angels were there for Karigan at just the right time: In fact, you saved her life. The neglected dog was in rough shape, too weak even to stand on her own, when she was found on the side of a desert highway apparently hit by a car. No one knew whether she would make it through the night, but Best Friends veterinary staff were determined to do all that they could for her. Thanks to you, that’s exactly what happened. Guardian Angels ensure that animals at Best Friends receive the care they need when they need it most. And today, you can help even more animals get the bright future they deserve by increasing your monthly gift by just a few more dollars — and help bring the entire country to no-kill by 2025. Though she’d been transported safely to the Sanctuary, Karigan was not yet out of the woods. With damage to her lungs as well as a concussion, she needed critical care to stabilize her and then a series of surgeries to save her injured leg. The brave dog emerged from each procedure a little stronger and a little more hopeful. She would need plenty of time to rest on her healing journey, and devoted caregivers provided love, companionship, and encouragement every step of the way. Guardian Angels made sure that sweet Karigan would not only live but thrive. And not just Karigan: Thanks to you, animals at Best Friends don’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, where they’ll lay their heads each night, or who will be there for them when they need specialized guidance or care.
