This year I'm walking for Vivien Leigh. Vivien Leigh is a tough as nails beautiful calico on the outside, just like her namesake. On the inside, her blood test revealed a different story. Vivien was suffering from an infection. We have started to treat it with antibiotics, but transition is always hard.
Now imagine you are 100 years old and deaf. Vivien is 21 years old! She still has plenty of that calico cattitude and thinks that everyone who she sees should come pet her in just the right place. Chin scratches melt her heart. All Vivien wants a peaceful place to call home and someone to love her.
Most people who walk in the cattery make a beeline for the kittens. But not me. I am drawn to cats like Vivien Leigh, seniors. Maybe it’s because I have an old soul or maybe it’s because these are the cats that stay at the shelter the longest. I have met many cats like Vivien, but none quite like her. In many shelters senior cats are never even given a chance. In some shelters they are refused admission, in others they never see the adoption floor and when they do they are passed over again and again for younger cats.
At Here Today Adopted Tomorrow we believe that every cat deserves a chance at a better life, including senior cats. The cage free set up and extra TLC goes a long way to making their transition time easier. The senior cats get extra veterinary care and have innovative adoption programs designed just for them.
By supporting me, together we can make sure that cats like Vivien Leigh will always get their chance. Can you help me exceed my goal of $1,000? I have already put in the first $50. Thank you for your support.
