After deciding to apply for a charity bib for Berlin Marathon, I searched the list of official charity partners for an animal welfare organization but didn't find what I was looking for. But it turns out there was an option to special request a charity of your choice so I took the chance and landed a spot to run for Best Friends Animal Society!
Best Friends Animal Society is the nation's leading animal welfare organization, providing lifesaving outreach programs to more than 3,600 shelters and rescues around the U.S. to educate about spay/neuter, no-kill rescue, and promoting pet adoption. They even house the country's largest no-kill animal sanctuary. Best Friends is working to end the killing of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters by 2025.
As an active foster/volunteer for my local animal shelter, this cause is very important to me. Last year I fostered seven dogs, two of which were urgent/at-risk and almost didn't make it out of the shelter... freedom rides at the 11th hour. I watched both of those dogs transform from completely shut-down to thriving with trust, love, and gratitude, and this reinforced the notion that all animals deserve a chance.
When you donate to my fundraiser, you'll be helping to save the lives of homeless pets all across the country through lifesaving adoption and spay/neuter programs, no-kill initiatives, and more.
Thank you for donating to help save animals' lives. Together, we will Save Them All.
