Koko Girl
Koko girl (13) was my rock, my support, and my little best friend for 12 years. I adopted her just one year after my injury, and she never left my side. Koko accompanied me to doctor appointments, did physical therapy with me daily, rode my wheelchair and scooter, and when it was time for me to drive again, just having her in the car gave me strength. When I’d have a flare up, she’d lay right on top of wherever I was hurting. On infusion days, she’d pick me up from the hospital, and then she’d take the best care of me the rest of the day.
When Justin and I first started dating, he would show up with flowers for me and “cookies” for Koko. It’s true that when he proposed to me, he put a ring on her collar too. So of course, she had to be center stage for our wedding! She proudly walked down the aisle with her daddy and stole the show.
Koko was 10 when she became a big sister to Vinnie. We took her to meet several dogs, and when she saw Vin, it was instant love! Koko was the best teacher! She was incredibly patient and loving with Vinnie. Vin always says, “Koko’s my bessssstttttt frienddddddd!”
Our girl received the blessing of the animals at mass, prayed the family rosary, and would wait to pray before each meal. We know she’s in heaven running and playing and watching over us.
