I've had a dog my entire life, but the impact they can have on a person's life didn't really hit me until I got my own dog, Minnie, after college. Minnie and I lived in 10 different places, in 3 states, over the span of 5 years. She was my best friend, and losing her to soon to cancer is what lit the flame to help other animals in need.
Since losing Minnie, my wife Noel and I have rescued 5 other dogs, 4 of whom are still with us, as well as fostered many more from our local animal shelter where e volunteer.
I work in college athletics, so fitness has always been a huge part of my life. On top of that, Noel and I founded the Bad Ass Running Crew LLC, empowering others to embrace their inner strength and to strive to be their best.
The Grand to Grand Ultra Marathon in September 2024, all to raise funds for Best Friends Animal Society, is a chance for me to really walk the walk in terms of pushing myself to overcome something few would even consider attempting.
Why this challenge?
It is the perfect storm of a crazy physically challenging event with a cause that hits close to home. What better way to continue to help people embrace their inner strength than to pursue such a difficult event and truly walk the walk.
