Dear Friends and Family,
It's that time again! And while 2021 hasn't been the total redemption we all hoped for, that won't stop me and Elphie from fundraising and walking in solidarity (still virtually) with other shelters and rescue organizations across the nation to raise support for animals in need on behalf of Rescuzilla!
This year, Mabel was one of the fortunate dogs that got a second chance through Rescuzilla. She came into our care on April 2nd from the city shelter, and the next day we were rushing her to the emergency vet clinic for severe lethargy, inappetence, and vomiting. Several diagnostics, medications and a few days later, she began to recover and settle in to her foster home in Manhattan, and we breathed a sigh of relief.
In foster care, we soon learned that this senior girl had no plans of slowing down anytime soon. She was active and excitable, with a stamina that breaks the "senior" stereotype and an awkward quirk that didn't always help her first impressions (...she's a humper)! As adopters turned her away and the pandemic continued to challenge our lives and our city, the team saw Mabel through several transitions and she eventually found her place with a foster dad who helped to channel her misguided energy more politely and unlock the keys to her longterm success.
We knew it would take a special kind of person, and somehow we found two. Even her weirdest moments couldn't turn them away from seeing that she's the sweet, sociable and fun-loving girl they were looking for, and soon she'll be home with them - and her infamous pink bed - for good!
For Mabel and so many animals like her, the money Elphie and I are raising will go directly to save lives. Rescuzilla is volunteer-run and it can't run without your generosity. Please click here to sponsor us by donating to our page:
