Since the pandemic began in March 2020 I have had 11 foster dogs! I am currently still caring for TWO.
You see, even though everyone was working from home, and many people were eager to adopt, just as many people lost their jobs, or their lives, and their pets were abandoned. The pets left behind were often not very well cared for, and we accepted a lot of dogs with spotty medical histories, or those who clearly suffered some kind of social neglect.
Our financial surplus, which we built up in 2019, was quickly drained.
Our vet bills, which averaged about $4000 a month in 2019, rose to $12,000+ a month. These dogs needed us more than ever.
It was a really hard year in rescue.
Despite that, we still successfully placed 500 dogs in their forever homes in 2020 and continue to work with our international, and local rescue partners to place more dogs every day.
This year I strut for all the dogs who spent their time with us before finding their forever homes. Poptart, Tarantino, Avaline, Lamia, Manasa, Naga, Ophia, Padma, Bebe, Ollie and Bento. (Bento and Bebe are still looking)
Please help us continue this work by making a donation. Our team goal is $50,000.
