I am part of the Coastal German Shepherd Rescue's Team raising money to help the dogs who no one else will help. We have so many broken dogs who we have saved that no one else would. Many of these dogs are medical cases that had no hope without us. My foster, Clover is an example of a dog who had no hope and no one else wanted. Her injuries were extensive and prognosis grim, but her indomitable spirit made it impossible for me to give up on her.
Clover's story is sad. She was hit by a car and left paralyzed on the side of the road. Animal Control picked her up and sought medical attention, but due to the time she was held at the shelter and the spinal injuries she sustained, the cord swelling left her completely paralyzed behind. Other than deep pain, she had no nerve function behind. In addition to her spinal fractures she also had a fractured femur and a subluxated hip on the other side. In spite of her obvious pain and deficits, she was so happy and sweet, grateful for any attention she could get. Her zest for life kept me fighting for her. An orthopedic surgeon repaired her fractured leg and we tended to her other wounds and complications that developed along the way.
Last summer, Clover was fitted with a wheel chair and started a long road of rehabilitation. It has been a little over a year and Clover has made great progress and collected a great team and many supporters along the way. With the dedication of the doctors and Staff at CARE in LA she received intensive physical therapy helping her regain movement and function in her rear legs. She has worked hard to regain the mobility she lost. She is always happy, loves everyone and is grateful for any and all help She is a shining example of the will to keep moving forward and also the wonderful people who have stepped up along the way to help. Clover's journey shows that miracles can be accomplished with the help and support of a community.
Clover and I are hoping you will help us raise funds for all the homeless dogs who desperately need our help to mend their broken bodies or spirits.
This is where you can help: I need your help to reach my goal. Please make a donation today and help us continue to save the dogs needing our help. Your donation is tax-deductible. And what’s great is that each participating animal welfare group keeps all the money it raises (after transaction fees).
Thank you for making a lifesaving gift to the dog and for helping to Save Them All.
