NorCal Boxer Rescue is so excited to be participating for the third year in Best Friends' annual Strut Your Mutt event in San Francisco! Last year's Strut Your Mutt was not only a ton of fun, but thanks to all of our teammates and donors, the event raised over $31,000 for NorCal Boxer Rescue and we were the top fundraising team in San Francisco. Our success last year is a testament to your generosity, your dedication, your caring, and - most of all - your belief that the work NorCal Boxer Rescue does is important and worthy of your support.
And your support is just what we need. At a time when our vet expenses are always increasing (and now surpassing $150,000/year), the funds raised at last year's Strut Your Mutt were vitally important to our organization. In the first six months of 2017, these funds helped us to care for dogs like:
Sheriff, a senior boxer who was suffering from bilateral perineal hernias so severe that the shelter described his kennel as looking like a "crime scene" due to the amount of blood they saw.
Clyde, a gentle soul who entered our care with an old injury that left him physically disabled, but still able to enjoy walks in his cart, physical therapy, and - most importantly - the love of his foster home.
Phoenix, a very handsome boxer boy who entered our care not only extremely emaciated, but with large open wounds on his legs.
Tuff, a beautiful senior boy who endeared himself to his foster family - both human and canine - before passing away, surrounded by the love of those who knew him briefly but dearly.
Andy, a young boxer who has required multiple orthopedic surgeries, extensive daily care, and rehabilitation to resolve a fractured jaw and, more seriously and with complications, an unstable hock.
Dogs like Roxy, Chesney, Ernest, Riley, Chicka, Bernie, Hildy, Bon Bon, Selena, and Roxy 2 - all senior dogs who found themselves homeless in their golden years but whose grey muzzles render them no less deserving of love and comfort.
In just the first six months of 2017, all of these dogs and so many others have benefitted from NCBR's work and from the support of caring people like you.
