Rock-A-Bully and Friends

Thank you for visiting our Strut Your Mutt Team page! Every day, more than 5,500 dogs and cats are killed in America's shelters simply because they don't have safe places to call home. That number should be zero. That’s why our team is participating in Best Friends Animal Society’s Strut Your Mutt event to raise money for the animals. But we need your help, too.

Who are we? We are 4 women with a passion for dogs, specifically the bullies. We started Rock-A-Bully and Friends in March 2017 because there were 3 dogs who desperately need rescuing. One had spent almost 2 years in boarding and we all know that's no life for a dog, much less an energetic pit bull. The other two had been part of a rescue for over 2 years and were not getting the networking they needed to be adopted, lost their foster at no fault of their own and also placed in boarding, just to be all but forgotten for 3 months. We had been following these dogs and knew the rescue that had possession was crumbling. We knew those 3 didn't stand a chance of getting adopted quickly because of their breed (pit bulls) and we feared they may be euthanized because the rescue could no longer pay boarding. We had no idea how to network them and collect donations so we could afford their vetting so thought rescue backing would be the best way to get the word out. The first month or two wasn't easy but we managed and in 5 months we have been able to save over 30 lives, mostly bullies but some little guys and gals as well. Our team now consists of 7 adult members and many junior members that share our love for these neglected and abandoned dogs. We are small but we are mighty and with your help we can continue to save lives! Please register to walk along side us or donate to our rescue. No amount is too small and every dollar counts toward saving another life.

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home the neglected, abused and abandoned dogs of the city of Houston. Our primary focus is on pitbull type dogs but we are not breed specific. Rock-A-Bully and Friends will also participate in the advocating and educating of the general public on responsible dog ownership. One of our main goals is to promote spay/neuter as well as the importance of annual vaccines, monthly heartworm and flea prevention and behavioral training. Rock-A-Bully and friends rescue pledges to stand up for the rights of all bully breeds and other breeds as well. We pledge to give them the second chance they rightfully deserve. We will strive to place all dogs that come into our rescue in loving forever homes. We will concentrate our efforts on saving dogs on the euthanasia list in high kill shelters in the Houston area, we will also take in strays and owner surrendered dogs when possible. Rock-A-Bully and Friends is a foster based rescue therefore we have no facilities to house dogs in a shelter like environment. Our fosters provide a well-balanced loving home where their RaB foster dog can be socialized, housebroken, kennel trained, rehabbed (if needed) and taught basic commands. Fosters play a key role in our rescue, they are the lifeline, their commitment and patience is vital. Without fosters we are limited on how many lives we can save.

You can something big, you can do something small, whatever you do, is better than nothing at all.

Please join us either by registering for our team or donating to one of our team members. Your donation is tax deductible and each participating animal welfare organization keeps 100 percent of the money that’s raised after transaction fees. And the best part? That money will help save the lives of homeless pets.

Thank you for your support!
