Thanks for visiting our Strut Your Mutt team page. Let's start by telling you about Pets Bring Joy (PBJ) and where we are headed.
PBJ rescues cats and dogs from overcrowded animal shelters in the greater Washington D.C. area. Our mission is to provide a safe harbor for homeless animals by establishing a foster community to care for them until loving and permanent homes can be found, and by overseeing a thoughtful and thorough adoption program. Since 2013 PBJ has rescued over 650 cats and dogs and given each a second chance at a new life.
We place a high priority on rescuing friendly, adoptable older cats and dogs that are sadly and often overlooked by adopters in favor of kittens and puppies. Through innovative programs we have worked to overcome many of the hurdles associated with adopting senior pets. One of our most popular media campaigns focused on adopting older cats.
But we are only beginning. We have plans to establish a home-like sanctuary and adoption center in Northern Virginia by 2020. We envision cage-free living for our permanent and short-term residents, along with interactive spaces for potential adopters to meet our cats. Our center will offer outstanding kitty/cat care, community outreach, and a constant stream of animal-related activities.
As this is our first year participating in Strut Your Mutt as a Best Friends rescue partner, we ask for your help in reaching our $5,000 goal so that we can help even more cats and dogs in the coming year. Come out and enjoy a walk in the park, or support our team with a generous donation. The animals are counting on you, so let's have some fun and make it happen!
Thanks for your support.
