ShepHeroes

ShepHeroes is thrilled to join Best Friends’ annual Strut Your Mutt!

Lace up. Leash Up. Save lives. In San Francisco. With Us.

Strut with your friends and meet kindred German Shepherd lovers for new friendships. Then stay longer for a family-friendly festival, including a photo booth, contests, and other activities.

As an all-volunteer team of German Shepherd lovers, we strive to make a difference in the lives of German Shepherd Dogs from the Bay Area to the Sacramento region & beyond in Northern California. Your generosity, caring and support on behalf of our hero breed sustains our efforts for the shepherds we foster and place in forever families; making a difference in the huge number of abandoned shepherds.

With your financial support, we can continue to care for dogs like:

Jandi, a five-month-old emaciated puppy who came to us bearing shotgun pellets, parasites, fractures in her pelvis, front and back legs, and deep gashes on her body. And so sweet in spite of all she endured.

Atlas, a three-month-old puppy with a staph infection and hernia.

Gunner, a puppy emaciated at 4 months weighing only 24 pounds hosting a number of parasites.

Pat, a 5-year-old with significant hair loss due to skin infections, and general muscle wasting who appeared years older until he received loving care. He was also 20 lbs underweight.

Boomer, a 4-month-old puppy experiencing an inguinal hernia with abdominal contents in the scrotum and cryptorchid; accompanied by his adolescent mom, Klea.

Maia, a new mom with her six beautiful tiny puppies.

Mowgli, Blau, and Daisey; all parvo survivors.

Molly at 9 years whose back end was a raw, gaping wound from untreated fistulas.

And many other shepherds deserving of tenderness, physical comfort and understanding of their needs were helped by the dedication of our wonderful resourceful volunteers.

You can join our caring team by:

  • By Registering for our team. The registration fee is tax-deductible donation to ShepHeroes. The discounted registration fee of $15 will rise to $20 on July 31st and to $25 for onsite, day of registration. By registering, you can join us on September 7th in San Francisco to celebrate rescue stories, while wearing your complimentary commemorative Strut Your Mutt t-shirt! You may be a team member without participating in the day of events in SF and bringing your dog to the event is at your discretion. Although, we love to see our adopted shepherds thriving with their forever families.
  • By inviting your Friends and Family to join the ShepHeroes team, it's way more fun strutting with your BFFs.
  • By Fundraising for our team or team members! Tell the world you support ShepHeroes and be bold in asking for their support. You’ll be our Hero. There are excellent fundraising incentives to earn celebrating milestones. Donations to our team or to a team member's Strut Your Walk page accrue to support our shepherds.
  • Sharing our efforts! Share our team page with your friends and family! The URL is http://support.bestfriends.org/goto/shepheroes.

Each and every German Shepherd Dog we have helped has touched our hearts, and the ones we haven’t been able to say yes to linger in our memories. Together with your support, we can say yes to more shepherds needing a safe landing. Thank you!

PS. Donate $25 to your personal fundraising page by July 1st for a chance to win $100,5 winners. And the first 10 teams overall to get 25 people to join their team will win $1,000. Let's go for it.
