Welcome to my K-9 Angels Rescue Strut Your Mutt Fundraiser! K-9 Angels Rescue is Houston’s premier ALL VOLUNTEER 501c3 non-profit animal rescue group. Established in 2012, it is an all-breed dog rescue that focuses on pulling at-risk dogs from high-kill shelters. Beginning in 2016 it expanded its scope to include cats as the cat adoption rates are very low at the public shelters.
K-9AR’s mission statement includes “We are motivated by the dire need to educate the public about the effects of irresponsible breeding practices, while helping the community by alleviating overcrowding in area shelters”. As such, Spay/Neuter has always been an objective. In 2017 K-9AR funded a spin-off project called “The Empty Shelter Project”. K-9AR initially bought $105,000.00 of surgery equipment and supplies and began a three-year plan of quarterly spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinate events in at-need communities in Harris County. To date K-9AR and The Empty Shelter Project has held 11 Spay Neuter events– all free to the public. This and everything else K-9 Angels does is only possible because of generous donors like you who believe in our mission:
$300,000: K-9AR operating expenses per year including standard vetting and care for sick and injured animals
$450,000: capital and operating expenses incurred for The Empty Shelter Project
$40,000: average operating expense for each Empty Shelter Project Event
6,300: number of dogs rescued and placed in forever homes since 2012
400: number of cats rescued and placed in forever homes since 2016
2: number of pigs rescued and re-homed
3,938: dogs and cats spay/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated at TESP events
20,674: first generation offspring taken out of the system by TESP
$1,750,000: tax payer savings by animals not being processed through public shelters
As you can see, K-9 Angels Rescue operates at a high capacity across a broad spectrum of animal welfare activities. As a non-profit, we rely on donations to keep our programs running. We appreciate every dollar that is donated and work diligently to maximize the benefit of every dollar towards improving animal welfare and overall quality of life in Houston and Harris County. Thank you so much for your support!
