My heart is so broken. Each and every day, I wake up sad because I'm missing one of the most amazing dogs to ever walk this planet. It's not just me though, my little Chihuahua named Bambi, literally looks for him and occasionally forgets he's not here and cuddles up to another dog, only to quickly realize it's not him. My beloved River passed away this June. He was rescued after spending over a month abandoned and isolated in the LA riverbed. If it hadn't been for people who love animals and literally risked their lives to save him, I wouldn't have had a chance to experience his love, calming nature and presence. Rescue is not easy, but without people who care and give up part of themselves, we would never know or experience what these amazing creatures can bring to our lives. Yes, I want to travel. Yes, I spend endless funds of my own for their care. But these animals deserve a chance at a good life, not one of abuse, abandonment, isolation, fear, and utter disgrace. My heart breaks and hurts every day, but I do this because someone needs to be their voice and give them a chance to experience life the way it was intended. This year, I’m walking in River's memory to save more homeless pets like him...
Strut Your Mutt is a fundraising walk hosted by Best Friends that saves the lives of homeless pets right here in my community and all across the country.
Maybe you know River's story? He was rescued by my friends Eldad and Annie and I decided to foster him due to the multiple medical needs he had having been abandoned in the LA River and left to fend for himself with no food or clean water for over 30 days. I am here to tell you that River was beyond special and I miss him so much that it's been very difficult on me and his siblings. River was a very quiet boy, but such an important part of all our lives. He helped me spread the word about rescue to many people and children over the years I was blessed to have him living with me.
Please support me by making a donation to my page in honor or River. Your gift helps homeless pets and will support Lovebugs Rescue which is the group that I volunteer my time and talent to here in Orange County. Lovebugs helps about 250 animals every year get into loving homes, we also help many medical cases, puppies that have been turned into the shelter with Parvo, and we're also providing Spay/Neuter services to low-income families here in Southern California to prevent accidental litters.
Rescuing animals means so much to me and I am grateful for your help. Every day, more than 2,200 dogs and cats are killed in America's shelters, simply because they don't have safe places to call home. Each one is a loving pet just like yours and mine. I'm hoping this year to exceed last year so we can continue to make a difference in more animals lives.
Together, we can Save Them All and reduce that number to zero. Thank you for your kind support.
