Grief can be paralyzing. It can also serve as powerful motivation. I’m sure many of you have noticed I haven’t attacked Strut Your Mutt fundraising with my usual zeal this year.
The losses of Perry and Rusty have been devastating. Perry was my constant companion. The Canine Cognitive Dysfunction took him from me before he was even physically gone. There were no more hikes, no more trips to dog parks, no more trips anywhere.
And, Rusty, it’s difficult not to feel like a complete failure with him. I’ve never known such a happy cat. He had every reason to be miserable, and yet, he showered me with love until right before the end.
It’s time for me to raise my head above this misery. So, let’s do this! Let’s raise money to help all the 733,000 dogs and cats that die every year in our nation’s shelters simply because they don’t have a safe place to call home! Let’s do it for all the Perrys and Rustys we have all loved and lost throughout the years!
Will you join me? It's easy!
