I’m walking to save the lives of homeless pets!
This year, I’m participating in Strut Your Mutt, a fundraising walk hosted by Best Friends that saves the lives of homeless pets right here in my community and all across the country.
I am fundraising for Community Canine Project, and my goal is to raise $1,500.00. CCP has been near and dear to my heart since our inception at the beginning of 2019. This incredible group of people have become family to me, and the compassion they share with the rescue world inspires me to be a better person each day.
I want to take part in Strut Your Mutt for many reasons, but this year is a bit different than the last two. In February, I brought home my first medical foster (much to Champ's protest), and I have learned so much in the short period of time that she has been with us. Plum was put on the Euthanasia List for an ACL tear, a diagnosis that the county shelter is unable to treat. After receiving a generous donation, Plum underwent TPLO surgery in May. In that time, Plum has shown what true resilience and gratitude looks like. She wakes up and greets every morning with a tail wag, and appreciates the soft, warm bed she sleeps in every night. Unfortunately, Plum has experienced some complications, and after undergoing a second surgery in order to remove the plate in her knee, Plum has recently been diagnosed with MRSA. Treatment for this can be complex, and will require even more time, medication, and monetary resources to resolve. Every single volunteer in CCP has stood by my side and supported me through this challenging time, but unfortunately, these unforseen circumstances have been a financial hit. That's where you all come into play. If you can donate anything, even $5, to help us get Plum back to full health, and continue our lifesaving efforts with the pet population in Maricopa County, it will never be forgotten (especially by Ms. Plum!)
Thank you for supporting me and helping to save lives!
