This year, I'm participating in Strut Your Mutt, a fundraising walk hosted by Best Friends, that directly supports Muddy Paws.
I started working for Muddy Paws this past April and I've since experienced more feelings of joy, grief & contentment than I ever thought you could possibly squeeze into 3 months of work. And I'm just the resident fundraiser so it's almost impossible to wrap my head around how my colleagues on the program side of things must feel at the end of the day.
Since the org's founding three years ago, Muddy Paws' staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly to give 3,000+ rescued dogs a second chance. And - it is only with the support of our community that we have the resources to do this work. Whether it's coordinating foster care or weekly adoption events, or safely transporting hundreds of at-risk dogs to NYC, where we're able to place most of them in adoptive forever homes within two weeks of their arrival.
And yet - it's still not enough. Every day, thousands of dogs are killed in America's shelters, simply because the number of animals far outpaces the space and funding available to care for them. Each of these is a beloved pet just like yours and just like Chloe - who I had the honor of bringing home nearly 10 years ago. 10 years later, she still eats faster than she can breathe because she was found emaciated. But I'm forever grateful that we found each other…despite her indifference on the matter ;)
Please support my - and Chloe's - fundraiser by making a donation to Muddy Paws. Your dollars will be put to work immediately to help more pups. We're literally saving lives here. Please join me!
