I'm walking to save the lives of homeless pets!
This year, I’m participating in Strut Your Mutt, a fundraising walk hosted by Best Friends that saves the lives of homeless pets right here in my community and all across the country. Strut Your Mutt is not just a dog walking event, it is the only annual fundraising event for the rescue group I work with.
Back in 2017 my family and I decided we were ready to find us a new furry family member. We looked on a few websites and found this adorable dog through Rescue Rovers that a friend of ours was currently fostering for. When my family went to meet this furry boy for the first time we thought wow, his head is huge :) and then fell in love with him. He was so gentle and loving we just had to take him home. I was amazed at how smart Maverick was and could not believe I was able to find this amazing dog that was sitting in a shelter just a few weeks before Rescue Rovers stepped in. Maverick was one of those dogs that changes your life. I was going through a really hard time in my life and he was there every day to help me through. My family wanted to give back to Rescue Rovers for the amazing dog we were able to get from them so we became fosters. This was not a easy job but I wanted to give other people that bond with a dog just like I had. Sadly a year and 1 week to the day Maverick started to not feel well. We rushed him to the doctor to see what was going and he ended up passing away that night. He had a bad heart that had been undetectable up to this point and he just could not hold on any longer. My heart was utterly broken but I had so many great memories of Maverick and he taught me so much through that small amount of time he was with me. This year I am walking for him and for all the dogs that have are just like him sitting in a shelter hoping that a rescue will help them out of that kennel and into a home.
I will continue to foster in his memory to give others the opportunity to have what I had with my best friend.
Please support Mavericks memory and me by making a donation to my page. Your gift helps homeless pets and will support the animal welfare group, Rescue Rovers.
This cause means so much to me and I am grateful for your help. Every day, about 2,000 dogs and cats are killed in America's shelters, simply because they don't have safe places to call home. Each one is a loving pet just like yours and mine.
Together, we can Save Them All and reduce that number to zero. Thank you for your kind support.
