Coastal German Shepherd Rescue

Happy 15th Anniversary, Coastal German Shepherd Rescue!

Thank you for visiting our Strut Your Mutt Team page. We’re raising money to help end the killing of pets in America’s shelters. And we plan on having a lot of fun doing it!

Meet Estrella, pictured in the photo above. In June, Coastal was alerted to an urgent case, Estrella, a tiny puppy (only 13 pounds), had sustained severe injuries to her hip and hind legs after being hit by a car. The shelter gave us two days to save her or they would euthanize. We had to help! Despite being in tremendous pain, Estrella smothered us with kisses and tail wags as her rescuers picked her up from the shelter to bring her to our veterinary team. X-rays revealed that the bottom of her femur and the top of her tibia on her right leg were broken. Additionally, the force of the impact not only dislocated her left leg, but caused the femur head to be pulled out of the socket, fracture, and push upward.

After two successful surgeries - one to repair Estrella's femur fracture and pin her tibial fracture and another to perform an FHO procedure on her left hip to remove the broken ball - Estrella is doing very well and recovering in a great foster home.

For 15 years, Coastal German Shepherd Rescue, a non-profit 501(c)3 public charity based in Orange County, has been dedicated to caring for and finding loving homes for abandoned dogs, like Estrella, in Southern California. We are an all volunteer run organization, with no paid employees, and our rescue exists solely because of your tax deductible donations, which support our efforts to save these very deserving animals. We save the unwanted seniors, the discarded dogs who need medical care, and so many more. In 2018 alone, Coastal was able to rescue and place over 50 puppies in loving homes, find forever homes for over 250 mature and homeless adult dogs, and care for approximately 100 additional dogs waiting patiently for their forever homes. Please donate today and help us save more lives!

Every day, nearly 2,200 dogs and cats are killed in America's shelters simply because they don't have safe places to call home. That number should be zero. That’s why our team is participating in Best Friends Animal Society’s Strut Your Mutt event to raise money for animals. But we need your help, too.

Please join us either by registering for our team or donating to one of our team members. Your donation is tax deductible and Coastal German Shepherd Rescue keeps 100 percent of the money raised after transaction fees. And the best part? That money will help save the lives of homeless pets.

Thank you for your support!
