Come strut with us!
Founded in 2004, Waggytail Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit organization that has rescued over 6,500 abandoned dogs and even some cats and kittens. Through the tireless work of our many volunteers and amazing fosters, we are committed to continuing to find forever homes for New York's littlest strays. That’s why our team is participating in Best Friends Animal Society’s Strut Your Mutt event to raise money, and we need your help.
In 2019 alone, we at Waggytail Rescue took in over 250 dogs and kitttens from NYCACC and our partner rescues in LA, Texas, and Tijuana. While we are always thrilled when our animals find their loving homes quickly, some have to remain in our care for longer due to unforseen medical issues. These special pups often require extended vet care and sometimes, we're not able to find homes for them right away. Your Strut Your Mutt donation helps us rehab these animals and get them the medical attention they need.
Meet some of them:
Hope: Hope was surrendered to the ACC by her family with a broken leg in a poorly-applied cast. We got her to a vet to repair the broken leg and clear up her other healthy issues (re-wrapped twice and treated for cysts/sores from the first cast). This sweet girl was in our care for several months as she recovered from surgery, and found a great home
Muffin: Muffin, a young kitten, was found on the road badly injured with a leg and eye injury. He was brought to AMC, where he underwent surgery. AMC called us to help because local cat rescues were overwhelmed. One of our volunteers took Muffin in to help him recover post-surgery (he needed to learn to walk again!) and to socialize him. Although he was in our care far longer due to his rehab, he found a great home with his foster’s classmate.
Little Man: Little Man arrived from Tijuana in July 2019 a happy, sweet, and loving dog. Once here, we learned that he had a serious heart condition that required several medications a day and lots of visits to AMC. We worked with Foster Dogs to find him a fospice home that could meet his needs, and after a year in our care, Little Man was happily reunited with his original owner, who discovered him on our social media!
Please join us either by registering for our team or donating to one of our team members. Your donation is tax deductible and each participating animal welfare organization keeps 100 percent of the money raised after transaction fees. We also welcome new fosters, without whom we'd have no way to take in these deserving dogs and cats. See more here for more information: www.waggytailrescue.org/fosters-needed
