Hello family and friends!
Some of you already know about this, but for those who don’t, I’m excited to announce that I’m now volunteering for a new dog rescue, Fetchin’ Retrievers Rescue: https://www.fetchinretrieversrescue.org/
My new rescue is going to be involved in the same fundraising event that I’ve participated in for several years, Strut Your Mutt 2020, which is done in collaboration with Best Friends Animal Society. This year will be different as every walk will be done virtually throughout the country due to Covid 19. Nevertheless, at Fetchin’ Retrievers, we’re still very much in need of raising funds and your support would mean the world to me!
This year I’m raising money in memory of my late golden retriever Marco. I don’t know how many of you know Marco’s story, but without a rescue coming to his aid six years ago, Marco would have died. He was found, sick and emaciated, in an LA area park, and the Good Samaritan who found him took him to a local shelter. Marco was too sick to be adopted by the public, so the shelter reached out to my rescue for help. When our volunteer picked him up from the shelter, he weighed about 30 pounds, was sick with pneumonia, and was too weak to walk out to her car. He went immediately to our rescue’s vet where our volunteers went everyday with beef, chicken, fish, anything just to get him to eat. He slowly recovered enough to be adopted, but when he came to live with Andy and me, he was still so thin that his ribs protruded and we fed him three times a day to get enough food inhim. We sadly lost Marco last December due to lymphoma, but I know he’d want me to tell his story so that we can go on rescuing and rehabilitating dogs just like him in order to find them their forever homes!
Thank you so much for any help you’re able to give!
