Dear Friends & Family,
Thank you for visiting my Strut Your Mutt page! It's been an unprecedented year, but 2020 can't stop Elphie and I from fundraising for Rescuzilla and walking in solidarity (virtually of course!) with other nationwide shelters and rescue organizations to raise support for animal welfare. Today and every day, homeless animals in America's shelters are in need of help -- to keep pets with their owners, to prevent unwanted litters through spaying and neutering, and to increase adoptions and give each one the chance it deserves to be someone's beloved companion.
This year, sweet Tiptoe was one of the fortunate dogs that got that chance through Rescuzilla. We rescued her in March, when the world was turning upside down. She had been brought to the ASPCA after police found her in critical condition, covered in wounds. She was afraid of her own shadow, terrible on leash, and overwhelmed by basic experiences. Even walking out of her kennel or from one room into another could be a challenge. She had survived severe trauma and healed physically, but not emotionally.
In foster care, the empty sidewalks helped her learn to walk calmly and she desensitized to the sounds of neighbors and television. Elphie, as usual, was a perfect helper dog and we got to see some hilarious new play styles between the two of them! As her fears diminished and trust appeared in its place, Tiptoe learned to sit on cue and play games with familiar people, and each baby step brought her closer to adoption.
We knew it would take a special kind of person, and somehow we found two: Lu and Gina. Today, Tippy is finally a permanent part of their incredible family with a twin brother that seems to be made just for her! She will greet them with excited hops and nibbles in the morning, snuggle up with dad for a siesta or supervise at mom’s feet as she works. Even the bossy cats and the new Roomba monster can’t scare her away from this happy ending!
For Tiptoe, and so many animals like her, the money Elphie and I are raising will go directly to save lives. Rescuzilla is volunteer-run and it can't run without your generosity. Please support us by donating to our page:
