Everyone in rescue has that *one* dog that changes their lives. For most of us at Posh Pets Rescue, that dog is Balboa. Surrendered to our municipal shelter in June 2016, Balboa initially had a difficult time adjusting to shelter life. Having spent most the first 5 years of his life in a crate, he wasn’t sure what to make of all these new people. Once he knew we were all here for him, he quickly became known as “everybody’s boyfriend,” aka Balbito aka Burrito. This spring, we discovered our boy had a brain tumor. Due to the pandemic, just a small group of Balboa’s people were able to help him cross the Rainbow Bridge.
This year, we at Posh are dedicating our Strut Your Mutt team to Balboa. We are hoping that everyone who loved Balboa (even from afar), can take part in celebrating his memory. While he was never “adopted,” Balboa certainly found his forever family with us.
Every day, nearly 2,200 dogs and cats are killed in America's shelters simply because they don't have safe places to call home. That number should be zero. That’s why our team is participating in Best Friends Animal Society’s Strut Your Mutt event to raise money for animals. But we need your help, too.
Please join us either by registering for our team or donating to one of our team members. Your donation is tax-deductible and each participating animal welfare organization keeps 100 percent of the money raised after transaction fees. And the best part? That money will help save the lives of homeless pets.
