Let me tell you about Reba. Linda, Mellie and I flew to Los Angeles to help relieve the burden of over population of animals in High kill shelters. We noticed Reba, a 4lb tiny chihuahua of a thing in a cage, looking so forlorn and scared. You see, Chihuahuas and Pit Bulls are the number one breeds to be euthanized in shelters across the USA. Pile on age (seniors) and medical condition, which Reba had both. Reba was 10 years old and had a large mass that took up most of her body. We knew we couldn't leave her there. We flew Reba to NY and sent her straight to the vet. Not only did she have a large mass growing, but she had pyrometria (a death sentence for many female unspayed dogs when not caught), and pneumonia. Miraculously she survived all. I fostered Reba until she would find her forever home. Jump to 8 months later when Reba started to become lethargic and not eat. I took her to the vet and found out tumors started to form in her lungs, basically she was dying. I decided then Reba was mine and would stay with me as long as she was comfortable. I had 3 more beautiful weeks with Reba. she woke up one day and told me it was enough and she was ready to leave. As hard as it was, I granted Reba her last wish on this earth. Reba will always be a part of my heart and I loved her dearly. I am glad she did not die alone, in a cage, in a shelter like many senior sick animals do.
Please help myself Posh Pets Rescue continue to help dogs like Reba and give them whatever life we can and not to die in a shelter all alone.
