We are joining forces with NorCal Boxer Rescue and walking to save the lives of homeless pets!
Strut Your Mutt is a virtual fundraising walk hosted by Best Friends Animal Society / working to save the lives of homeless pets right here in our Greater Sacramento community and all across the country.
Join the NCBR team with Marlee and me -OR- please consider a small donation to our team. Strut Your Mutt Day is October 24th. And leading up to the big strut, we'll be tracking our miles and raising dollars with the ResQwalk app / you can download it for more fundraising fun on behalf of your favorite pet charity.
I first got involved with NCBR when I adopted a white Boxer girl shortly after my divorce. It was love at first sight as she rolled across the parking lot in a grocery cart because the pavement was too hot for her paws. I've since rescued two more pups and fostered a few others. Now in my 5th year on the NCBR Board of Directors, I still feel a void when we can't save them all. Not every adoption works out / and not every Boxer can be pulled from our crowed shelters / and not every scared pup can be retrained and rehomed / and not every grey muzzle can find a family that understands her special senior needs / and not every wiggle butt can get another shot at a forever home. But we do all that we can with the mighty support of our volunteer heroes. Leave No Boxer Behind, we say.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, NCBR is being asked to pull mostly dogs with extensive medical issues or those in their senior years ... the younger pups are getting adopted by the shelters. The old and sick dogs are disproportionately suffering and NCBR needs to be prepared to shoulder the financial burden of rescuing these pups.
